Tyneside

From Conservapedia

Tyneside is the industrial and postindustrial conurbation located along the north and south banks of the River Tyne in north-east England. It comprises areas that were formerly in the traditional counties of Northumberland and County Durham, but from 1974 in the metropolitan county of Tyne and Wear. Tyneside is conventionally described as the four northern authority areas in Tyne & Wear: Newcastle upon Tyne and North Tyneside on the north bank of the river, and Gateshead and South Tyneside on the south bank. Tynesiders are informally known as Geordies. The population of Tyneside is around 800,000.
