Queen of the Universe is a title given to Mary (mother of Jesus) in the Second Vatican Council document Lumen Gentium, Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, Chapter VIII The Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God in the Mystery of Christ and the Church, II The Role of the Blessed Mother in the Economy of Salvation, paragraph 59.[1].
- "Finally, the Immaculate Virgin...on the completion of her earthly sojourn was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory[2] and exalted by the Lord as queen of the universe, that she might be more fully conformed to her Son, the Lord of lords (cf. Rv 19:16) and the conqueror of sin and death[3]."
Compare Romans 8:29; 1 Corinthians 15:49; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Colossians 1:15; Revelation 12:1 and 12:17; also 1 Kings 2:19-20:
- "And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king's mother; and she sat on his right hand." (KJV)[4]
