Grain in Firearms Terminology[edit]

In firearms terminology, according to gun writer Matthew Boyd, grain refers to "a unit of measure in which 7000 grains equal one pound and 437.5 grains equal one ounce. Used in the measure of bullet weight and the weight of powder charges, among other things."[1]
