Warrantless Searches

A warrantless search is a search that does not require a search warrant by law as in the circumstance that a person is arrested and the object is in plain sight during the time of the arrest (compare probable cause).

• The US Senate was poised to vote in late November 2012 on a bill that would grant warrantless access to American's email, promoted by Patrick Leahy.^[1]
