Pythons are large, non-poisonous, carnivorous snakes belonging to the Pythonidae family.

Manner of killing[edit]

The python kills by squeezing its prey and thereby suffocating it. It mainly preys on small mammals though some have been known to eat small pigs and goats.

Location[edit]

They are found in the tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Pacific islands.

Examples[edit]

  • The reticulated python, the largest snake known reaching sizes of up to 10 metres long.
  • Indian python
  • Ball python, which can roll into a ball and be rolled along the ground.
