Seleucus I Nicator (Σέλευκος Νικάτωρ | Séleukos Nikátōr | Seleucus the Victor), c. 358 BC – September 281 BC; was at the first one of Alexander's most trusted generals who eventually won himself his own kingdom and dynasty now known as the Seleucid Empire.

Generally included in the list of the successors because of his eventual supremacy, he is unlike his peers in that he did not receive a satrapy under the regency of Perdiccas upon Alexander's death. Rather Seleucus received command of the elite cavalry unit known as The Champions.

Title[edit]

Seleucus eventually assumed the title of Basileus which is usually translated into English as "king" after the defeat of Antigonus and established the Seleucid Empire over the bulk of the territory which Alexander had conquered in Asia.
