Sarain is a small village of 91 hectares in Burhanpur Tehsil in Azamgarh district in the State of Uttar Pradesh, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Sarain depends on Shahpur NP, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One Well supply, One tank, One tubewell and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sourcesOne canal. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Sarain's pin code is 223221[4], and village code is 08542100. The area of Sarain is segregated as 62 hectares irrigated area, 3 hectares unirrigated area. the 2 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves) and remaining 9 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Sarain has One post office (Sarain B.O). Sarain has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Sarain is a census village in the district of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. The village has a total population of 1611 and has total administration over 234 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Scheduled caste counts for 77 (4.78%) males constitute 35 (2.17%) of the population and females 42 (2.61%).

The workforce is 295 male, 17 female with 273 (87.5%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 260 males and 13 females. 146 males and 6 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 32 male and 5 female agricultural labor. 39 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Shahpur NP and Azamgarh to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
