The usual Italian term for the right of Ḥazaḳah , especially with regard to the rent of houses in the ghetto of Rome. Clement VIII. made it part of the law relating to Jewish tenant-right there. Several publications containing cases bearing on this law are mentioned in Berliner, "Gesch. der Juden in Rom," ii. 225, Frankfort-on-the-Main, 1893 (see also Abrahams, "Jewish Life in the Middle Ages," pp. 68 et seq. ).
