Highland is a Scottish Council (local administration area) made up of the counties Sutherland, Caithness and Nairnshire, as well as parts of Inverness-shire, Ross and Cromarty and Argyll. It has a population of 211,340 (2004 census) and covers an area of 10225 square miles, approximately one third of Scotland.
