Ottawa is the capital city of Canada, and the country's fourth largest municipality. It is the second largest city in Ontario by population and was established in 1855. Ottawa is located on the Ottawa River in the Ottawa Valley on the Ontario border with Quebec. The community neighboring Ottawa in Quebec is Gatineau. The major employer in the city is the Canadian Federal Government, although several high technology firms are also located in the city.

Ottawa, as the capital of Canada is the home of several world-class museums, galleries, embassies, and memorials as well as the Parliament of Canada including the Peace Tower, and Centre Block and Library of Parliament.
