Psychiatry (literally, doctoring a soul, from Greek psychē soul, mind + iatros doctor) is the branch of medicine with the goal of studying, preventing, and treating mental disorders in humans.
Psychiatric medication is a licenced psychoactive drug. Psychiatric history is the record of interviews with a patient.
Psychiatry has never been an exact science, Sigmund Freud notwithstanding, and it has never been about much more than guesswork.[1]
