In February Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad named Bill Monroe, former director of the Iowa Newspaper Association, special advisor on government transparency. Monroe's advisory role is unpaid. During his inaugural address in January Branstad called for greater transparency. "Sunshine remains the best cure for what ails our government," he said.[1]
