The University of Frankfurt Institute for Social Research is an organization which was originally located at the University of Frankfurt am Main, which is the primary organ of Critical theory and the ideology of the Frankfurt School.[1]

After WWII, the institute relocated to New York and became a part of Columbia University. It re-opened in Frankfurt in 1951 now operates a location both in New York and Frankfurt.
