The Iowa Equal Rights Amendment, also known as Amendment 1, was on the ballot in Iowa on November 3, 1998, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The measure expanded the section of the constitution on rights of persons to include women. This measure had previously been defeated in 1980 and 1992.[1][2][3]
