American History Homework 12 Zachary C. 12-12-08

1. The protagonist of the Cold War was the Soviet Union; the period of the war was 1945 to 1991.

Correct!

2. The two wars between 1945 and 1980 were the Korean War and the Vietnam War. The outcomes of these wars are not acceptable because the United States had the opportunity in the Korean War to destroy North Korea and severely injure China. In the Vietnam War we pulled out to early and accepted a humiliating defeat just because the opposition for the war, in the U.S., was too strong for Washington.

Superb, concise analysis.

3. I am impressed by civil rights movement’s struggle to give equal opportunity to all Americans. Because the United States is the land of the free… for all people not just the majority of Americans.

Right.

4. One thing that President Johnson is known for is the Great Society, which gave less fortunate people government programs, funded by taxpayers, without them having to work for it. This was terrible program that expanded government control and put millions of people on welfare. This program promotes laziness.

Superb, may use as a model.

5. The thing that I liked most about the 80th Congress was the crackdown on union power. At the time the unions were too powerful and were detrimental to the countries economic growth. Today, they just need to be eliminated, since they have no positive aspects.

Excellent.

6. Douglas MacArthur was the most important person from 1945 to 1980. He helped to positively influence the Korean War, which would have been ten times worse if he had not led the troops in to battle.

Right, may use this as a model.

7. The name given to them was the Warren Court. They took an “activist” role. For example, they applied the Bill of Rights to the states when it was only meant to be applied to the Federal government.

Good again!
Perfect: 70/70. Congratulations.--aschlafly 23:11, 13 December 2008 (EST)
