Meïr Ben Levi

From Jewish Encyclopedia (1906)

Meïr Ben Levi:

Austrian Talmudist and Biblical commentator of the beginning of the eighteenth century; a native of Zolkiev. Under the title "Liḳḳuṭe Shoshannim" (Jessnitz, 1722), he compiled the comments and novellæ of the Geonim on the Pentateuch and arranged them in the order of the weekly lessons. Meïr afterward revised the work, and, having added thereto notes of his own, published it under the new title "Miḳsheh Zahab." From the preface to the second edition (Frankfort-on-the-Oder, 1733), the first edition seems to have been printed at Zolkiev (n.d.).
