Congo River

The Congo is the second-longest river in Africa (after the Nile), at 2,900 miles (4,667 km) in length. It rises in Zambia (here named the Chambeshi), flowing across the Democratic Republic of Congo. For some distance it forms the boundary between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of the Congo (the two countries' capitals, Kinshasa and Brazzaville, face each other across its waters) before re-entering the DRC; it then forms the boundary between the DRC and Angola before entering the Atlantic Ocean. The Congo has the second-largest outflow of water of any river in the world and has the second largest drainage basin (in both cases the River Amazon is number one).
