Ekal is a small village of 2536 hectares in Chohtan Tehsil in Barmer district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Ekal depends on BARMER, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Ekal is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Ekal's pin code is 344706[4], and village code is 02269600. The area of Ekal is segregated as 626.95 hectares irrigated area, 1153.6 hectares unirrigated, the 578.43 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 176.55 hectare area not available for cultivation.
Ekal has One post office (Ekal B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Ekal has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.
The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Ekal is a census village in the district of Barmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1690 and has total administration over 310 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.
- Ekal has 309 children, 143 boys and 166 girls.
- Scheduled caste counts for 4 (0.24%) males constitute 2 (0.12%) of the population and females 2 (0.12%).
- Scheduled tribe counts for 613 (36.27%) males constitute 319 (18.88%) of the population and females 294 (17.40%).

Employment[edit]
According to a census 2011 report, 1047 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 550 male, 497 female with 288 (27.51%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 232 males and 56 females. 209 males and 55 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 1 male. 759 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.
They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Barmer to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
