Illinois Supreme Court

The Illinois Supreme Court is the highest court in the State of Illinois.^[1] It is comprised of seven Justices.

Each of the seven Justices are elected from one of the five appellate judicial districts, while the first appellate judicial district (Cook County, which includes Chicago) has three seats on the Supreme Court. In 2022, Dems reorganized the five appellate appellate districts to ensure that Dems would control 5 out of 7 seats on the Supreme Court.^[2]
