Apple Records is a division of Apple Corps, and is the record company that produced all of The Beatles' albums after 1968, as well as side projects by members of the Beatles.
In 1978 Apple Records filed a trademark infringement suit against Apple Inc. (the electronics designer and manufacturer) for use of the apple logo. The dispute was ended in 1981 when Apple Computers paid $80,000 to Apple Records. Part of the settlement included the condition that Apple Inc. would not enter the music business.[1] These terms were violated by Apple Inc. twice; once in 1991 and again in 2003.[2] Relations between the two companies has improved in recent years with Apple Records allowing Apple Computers to sell Beatles recordings through the iTunes software.
