Natan Sharansky

Natan Sharansky (born Anatoly Borisovich Shcharansky, 1948), Jewish mathematician, physicist, and human rights activist, best known as a former prisoner of the Soviet Union's gulag system where he was imprisoned for nine years on espionage charges before being released in an East-West spy exchange orchestrated by then-President Ronald Reagan in 1986.
