Text of measure[edit]

Question on the ballot:

Shall the Fire District issue bonds not to exceed $2,240,000.00 to construct and equip a new fire station? If the bonds are approved, they will be payable from taxes on property or property ownership that are not subject to the limits of sections 11 and 11 b, Article XI of the Oregon constitution.[1][2]

Summary:

If approved, this measure would provide funds for capital costs including:

• Constructing a Fire Station
• Equipping a Fire Station
• Paying bond issuance costs
• Repayment of existing loan for the acquisition of real property from unspent bond proceeds after completion of the project, if any.

The existing fire station was built in ] 955, and is not large enough to house fire apparatus and to provide for the training of firefighters. The current station lot is too small to rebuild upon. If approved, the bonds would finance a new station to be built on a site that the district has been developing for the past several years. The new building would be seismically sate and provide disaster shelter for district residents. The Bonds would mature not later than 25-years from the date of issuance. The measure is estimated to cost taxpayers an average of 0.6277 per thousand of assessed value each year. For the owner of a home with a taxable assessed valuation of $100,000, the estimated cost would be $62.77 per year.[1][2]
