Enrico Anthony "Rick" Lazio (born March 13, 1958 in Amityville, New York) served as a Republican U.S. Representative from New York's 2nd congressional district from 1993 through 2001. He rose to the rank of Deputy Majority Whip and later the Assistant Majority Leader. Lazio served on both the Commerce and Banking Committees and was chairman of the Subcommittee on Housing and Community Opportunity. He was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States Senate in 2000 against Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Lazio ran for Governor of New York in 2010, but lost the Republican Primary to Tea Party backed Carl Paladino. Lazio did win the nomination of the Conservative Party of New York, but later withdrew from the race and Paladino appeared on both lines.^[1]
