In 2010 Forbes Magazine rated Rochester third in the top 10 places to raise a family.[2]

Rochester, New York's last Republican mayor was elected in 1973.

Rochester had at least 80 homicides in 2021. The previous record of 69 was set in 1991.

City government[edit]

On July 18, 2021 Democrat mayor Lovely Warren and her husband Timothy Granison were both charged with criminal possession of a firearm, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of failure to secure firearms in a home. An unregistered handgun and semi-automatic rifle allegedly were found unsecured inside the couple’s home they share with their 10-year-old child, along with cocaine and $100,000 cash.[3]
