From Conservapedia Edward Telfair (1735 – September 17, 1807) was a governor of the state of Georgia and a member of the Continental Congress in 1778, 1780, 1781, and 1782. He was also one of the signers of the Articles of Confederation.[1]
Telfair was born in Town Head, Scotland. He attended the Kirkcudbright Grammar School and later acquired commercial training. Telfair immigrated to Virginia in 1758 and served as agent of a commercial house. He later moved to Halifax, North Carolina; in 1766, he established a commission house in Savannah, Georgia.
Edward Telfair served as a member of the Continental Congress in 1778, 1780, 1781, and 1782; he was one of the signers of the Articles of Confederation and a delegate to the State ratification convention for those same Articles.
Telfair died in Savannah on September 17, 1807, and was interred in Bonaventure Cemetery.
