Nina Wolford is an at-large member of the Bellevue Board of Education in Nebraska. She ran unopposed and won re-election by default in the general election on November 4, 2014. She has served as president of the board since July 2013.[1]

The election in Bellevue featured three seats up for general election on November 4, 2014. There was no primary election. At-large incumbents Mike Kinney, Frank Kumor and Nina Wolford ran unopposed for re-election.

Candidates were not required to file campaign finance reports until they received or expended $5,000 or more in a calendar year.[3]

Wolford said she wants to strike a better balance between the rise of standardized tests and the individual needs of students. “What I don’t want is scripted education. I want to continue to give teachers in Bellevue leeway to teach,” she stated.[5]

Bellevue Public Schools is located in Sarpy County, Nebraska. The county seat is Papillion. Sarpy County is home to 169,331 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[6] In the 2011-2012 school year, Bellevue Public Schools was the fifth-largest school district in Nebraska and served 9,988 students.[7]

Sarpy County overperformed compared to the rest of Nebraska in terms of higher education achievement in 2012. The United States Census Bureau found that 35.8 percent of Sarpy County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 28.1 percent for Nebraska as a whole. The median household income for Sarpy County was $69,269 compared to $51,381 for the state of Nebraska. The percentage of people below poverty level for Sarpy County was 6.6 percent while it was 12.4 percent for the state of Nebraska.[6]
