From Wikitia Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) [1][2] is a 501c(3) non-profit aimed at supporting recruitment, retention and advancement of women in cybersecurity [3]. WiCyS was founded in 2013 by Dr. Ambareen Siraj from Tennessee Tech University through funding from the National Science Foundation [4]. Founding partners include Facebook, Palo Alto Networks, and Cisco.
WiCyS's Board of Directors includes representatives from Facebook, Palo Alto Networks, Lockheed Martin,UnitedHealth/Optum, Nike, INC., Tennessee Tech University, Rice University, George Washington University, and Carnegie Mellon University.
Women in CyberSecurity is recognized for the annual cybersecurity conference supporting women in computer sciences [5][6]. The first conference was held in 2014 with approximately 350 attendees and has grown to over 1,650 attendees in 2020. The 2021 conference will be held September 8-10 in Denver, CO [7].
