The Human Genome Project, which began in 1990, is an international research project to map each human gene and to completely sequence human DNA. The project finished in 2003 with a full map of the human genome. The project was led by Francis Collins, a devout Christian and author of The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief. Research still continues today in an effort to reduce the already low error rate in the original project.
