Sonai is a small village of 298 hectares in Karchhana Tehsil in Allahabad district in the State of Uttar Pradesh, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Sonai depends on Niani, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Sonai's pin code is 212301[4], and village code is 05541600. The area of Sonai is segregated as 329 hectares irrigated area, 35 hectares unirrigated area. remaining 3 hectare area not available for cultivation.
Sonai has One post office (Karchhana S.O) and Four public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Sonai has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

Sonai is a census village in the district of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. The village has a total population of 3330 and has total administration over 581 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

- Scheduled caste counts for 1200 (36.04%) males constitute 605 (18.17%) of the population and females 595 (17.87%).

According to a census 2011 report, 1041 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 787 male, 254 female with 611 (58.69%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 481 males and 130 females. 113 males and 24 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 178 male and 63 female agricultural labor. 430 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.
They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Niani and Allahabad to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
