IMDb profile
A Haul in One is a Popeye the Sailor theatrical animated short produced by Famous Studios (the original animation unit of Paramount Pictures) and released on December 14, 1956.

Plot[edit]

Movers Popeye and Bluto are on their way to Olive Oyl's apartment to help her move, but she has not yet finished packing her belongings due to her having to struggle to get the packing done. When the two partners arrive, they discover they have no room to park their moving van because all parking spaces in front of Olive's building are full, so Popeye gets out of the van, lifts one car and stacks it on top of the car in front, then calls for Bluto to back the van into the free space. The guys then arrive at Olive's apartment and when they see her, she invites them in. Bluto steps in first, then muscles Popeye out into the hallway and slams the door on him when he follows, but the sailor gets back in through the open window above the door as he and Bluto begin to compete for her attention.

With Popeye displaying greater packing skills and speed despite Bluto's attempts at interfering, the latter turns his efforts to folding clothing items to try to one-up his partner, but is again outdone by Popeye, who gets the job done much faster with the help of a vacuum cleaner. The chagrined Bluto next tries putting on a show of strength to upstage Popeye by lifting a couch with crates and a barrel on it and carrying all the items on his back, but his rival demonstrates he can carry him and more. After trying unsuccesfully to get rid of the competition by locking Popeye inside the van, Bluto is astonished to see Popeye return to action by scaling up the outside of the apartment building to get back in, then hauling a baby grand piano and tossing it out the window, then speeding down the stairs to street level to catch the piano and set it on the sidewalk, greatly impressing Olive.

Frustrated over Popeye's greater success at helping Olive pack, Bluto begins tossing her entire living room set out the window one item at a time, leaving Popeye to catch and arrange them, which he does quite effortlessly. Finally, Bluto, reacting in sore loser fashion, grabs Popeye and slugs him toward the piano, causing him to fall forward onto a folding table, where Bluto then traps his neck between the table halves. Popeye promptly grabs and eats his can of spinach and mule-kicks Bluto into a closet full of women's clothing, then ties him to the back of the van as he invites Olive to ride with him in the front.
