An effort to recall City Commissioner Joshua Deriso did not qualify for the ballot in Cordele, Georgia.[1][2]

Recall supporters[edit]

Cordele resident Trae Sims filed the petition application, which read:[2]

Mr. Deriso committed multiple acts of malfeasance, violated his oath of office, and failed to uphold state and federal laws and the constitutions, in violation of O.C.G.A. Sections 45-10-1, 45-11-1, and 45-11-4, and the City Charter which include: (1) Willingly removing the 'Blue Line' picture from a city office; (2) Violating Trae Sims' rights of free speech; (3) Repeatedly slandering Commissioner Shepherd at Commission meetings.[3]

Organizers submitted a recall application with 126 signatures in July 2022. For a special recall election to have been scheduled, organizers needed to collect 1,974 signatures within a 30-day period.[2][4]
