Gamma-Ray Bursts

Gamma-Ray Bursts are brief flashes of highly energetic photons (light) that occur at random times and unpredictable locations in the sky. A gamma-ray burst might look light a flash from a flashbulb, if the human eye could detect this type of light.

Bursts are formed from collapsing high-mass stars, expelling luminous energy that is brighter than anything else known in the universe.
