Prince (Musician)

Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016), known popularly as Prince (or, for a time, with an unpronounceable sexual symbol) was an American musician and songwriter (both under his name and various pseudonyms). He was widely known for his skills as a multi-instrumentalist and his energetic stage performances, including his performance at halftime of the 2007 Super Bowl, singing his popular hit Purple Rain during a driving rainstorm.

He was a Jehovah's Witness. However, many of his songs had sexual imagery couched in religious terms, as well as songs about the Apocalypse (notably the title track from his album 1999). Notably, he was involved with the top two songs of the Parents Music Resource Center's "Filthy Fifteen" (wrote and performed #1 "Darling Nikki", wrote #2 "Sugar Walls" under the pseudonym "Alexander Nevermind").

He died of a drug overdose in his Minneapolis home in April 2016. Notably, he lack a will and therefore his estate would pass to his siblings once legal matters are resolved (he was once married but divorced and their child died in infancy, and he had no other known children).
