Kassites

The Kassites are mentioned in cuneiform sources as early as the 18th century B.C., Led by their king Agumkakrine, they took advantage of the Hittite raid of 1595 B.C. and occupied the Babylonian region, where they ruled for over 400 years.

Their period seems to be one of stagnation - certainly there is very little archaeological evidence of their rule; and they hardly featured in the affairs of the Middle East during their time. They were defeated and displaced by Assyria and Elam c1157BC.,

They may have been Indo-European. Worship of certain Indo-European gods indicates that at least their rulers were.
