Landfall

From Conservapedia

Landfall is the approach to or sighting of land, or point of rest after a voyage or flight. It is commonly used when speaking of large, water-based storms, such as hurricanes or cyclones, to speak about the moment when their eyes cross over from the ocean to a large landmass, such as a large island (e.g. Cuba or Japan) or the mainland USA or mainland Asia.
