The Yongle emperor (1360 - 1424) was the third emperor of China's Ming dynasty and ruled from 1403 until his death in 1424. He sponsored the building of the Forbidden City as well as sponsoring the exploratory expeditions of Zheng He and the reopening of China's borders to trade and travel.
