Majles

From Conservapedia

The Majles is the national parliament of Iran. It has the power to enact new laws or change existing ones with the approval of the Guardian Council. It consists of 290 members, who are elected to four year terms.

Although the Majles is directly elected by the people, the Guardian Council, which is under clerical control, chooses who is permitted to run for election for the Majles.
