Pécs is the fifth largest city of Hungary with a population of 145,347 (2016). The city is also the county seat of Baranya county.[1]

The Romans founded the city under the name Sopianae, when the Roman province of Panonia was divided in four parts Sopianae became the capital of Valeria. Later on it became an early Christian settlement and the Necroplis of the place is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.[2]
