American History Homework 11 Zachary C. 12-04-08
1. The value of learning history is in learning from the mistakes people have made in the past and making sure that they are not repeated.
2. The United States was right to enter WWII because freedom needs to be protected at all costs, and during WWII freedom was being lost at a large rate and scale. The United States most likely entered the war at the right time, since we won in both theaters.
3. I agree most with the Immigration Act of 1924, because it limited the amount of immigrants allowed into the United States. The bill should have made skilled workers a priority, instead of having the quotas.
4. The economic boom was a high point in the 1920’s that was aided by President Coolidge, who left the economy alone and let the free market go it’s own way, which proved to be the right decision.
5. The New Deal was a bad idea, because it gave the government the right to interfere in the Free Market. The Free Market should have been left alone and it would have straightened itself out much faster.
6. The United States was absolutely right in dropping the atomic bomb on Japan. It save countless American and Japanese lives, and ended WWII.
7. This cartoon was probably drawn in the 1920’s or 1930’s. It illustrates the House and Senate walking into the White House with big dictatorial sticks. TR is out side the White House exclaiming about how his stick is really small compared to the ones going in. This represents the House and Senate wanting to give more power to the government, than TR had already given it.
