Utah District Courts

The Utah District Courts are trial courts of original jurisdiction over civil cases, criminal felonies, and certain misdemeanors in Utah. The district courts also hear domestic relations cases, such as divorces, child custody and support, adoption, and probate.
Judicial districts[edit]
There are eight judicial districts, with 71 full-time judges serving them. The court also serves as "an appellate court to review informal adjudicative proceedings from administrative agencies".[1]
The judges' terms last four years. However, they must face their first retention election within three years of appointment.[2][3]
