Allegheny College is a private liberal arts college located in Northwest Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1815. Since 1833, the college has been historically affiliated with the United Methodist Church, though it is currently non-sectarian.
In August 2008, James H. Mullen Jr. became the 21st president of Allegheny.[2]
When selecting a location to film the movie Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up to Me, Cornell University no longer looked like a 1950s campus, so the film was shot at the more conservative Allegheny College instead.[3]
