Python (Programming Language)

Python is a general-purpose programming language that is interpreted at a high degree of abstraction. Its design philosophy places a strong emphasis on code readability, as shown by the usage of extensive indentation. Guido van Rossum started working on Python in the late 1980s as a replacement to the ABC programming language. Python 0.9.0 was the first version of the language to be published, and it is still in use today. List comprehensions and a garbage collection mechanism based on reference counting were introduced in Python 2.0, which was launched in 2000 and included a number of new features. Python 3.0, which was published in 2008, was a significant upgrade of the language that was not fully backward-compatible with previous versions. Python 2 was deprecated with the release of version 2.7.18 in 2020.
