Autonomic Nervous System

The autonomic nervous system is the system of nerves which carries instructions from the central nervous system to the body's organs.^[1][2] It is responsible for the regulation of important functions such as temperature regulation and breathing. Thus in essence, the ANS controls the automatic and involuntary functions.

The autonomic nervous system is divided into the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.^[3]
