In Personam

From Conservapedia

The legal term in personam means directed toward a particular person rather than a particular piece of property. Most lawsuits are in personam. The primary exceptions are lawsuits directed specifically at titles to land. A decision in personam will only bind those who were parties to the proceeding (as opposed to the world at large).

Contrast in personam with in rem.
