Necessary And Sufficient Condition

A necessary and sufficient condition is a condition that must be true if, but only if, some other condition must be true. For example, "Joe is an unmarried male" is necessary and sufficient for "Joe is a bachelor."

Confusing a necessary and sufficient condition with a merely sufficient condition is a logical fallacy known as affirming the consequent
