Carl Nielsen (1865–1931) was a Danish composer and musician. He is known for his six symphonies, his opera Masquerade, and for many pieces of music across a range of different genres. His Symphony 4 The Inextinguishable written in 1916 at a time not much other music was being composed is one of his most famous works. It's considered a testament to the human spirit's will to survive during World War I. One of the best known Danish composers, Nielsen's music was a strong influence on later generations of composers.
