Mark Spencer Yancey (born September 26, 1957) is a businessman from Dallas, Texas, with more than thirty years of experience in the financial services industry,[1] who challenged Moderate Republican U.S. Senator John Cornyn in the GOP senatorial primary to be held on March 3, 2020.

The conservative Yancey describes himself as a "Common Sense Republican" who is not indebted to special interest groups.[2]

He is a former resident of Newport Beach, California, and Ponte Vedra Beach in St. Johns County, Florida, a resort located on the Atlantic coast between Jacksonville and St. Augustine.[1] He is the chairman and chief executive officer of Attacca International, an independent privately held mergers and acquisitions firm.[2]

There were other primary candidates in addition to Cornyn and Yancey, including Dwayne Stovall of Cleveland in Liberty County, who challenged Cornyn in the 2014 primary and polled 11 percent of the vote. Yancey ultimately finished the race in a weak third-place position, as Cornyn cruised to renomination, with Stovall a distant second.
