Endosymbiosis

Endosymbiosis or Endosymbiosis theory, is the process by which a new organism originates from the fusion of two existing organisms, or, more precisely, by which two independently organisms become a tightly coupled system and eventually just one organism.^[1] Scientists have conjectured that the mitochondrion, chloroplast and centrioles may be examples of endosymbiosis due to each containing DNA independent of the cell's nucleus.^[2]
