Mike Huckabee Announces Bid For Presidency

Mike Huckabee (R) officially announced his bid for the presidency in his hometown of Hope, Arkansas, on May 5, 2015. After briefly describing his life growing up in Hope, he declared, "So it seems perfectly fitting that it would be here that I announce that I am a candidate for president of the United States of America."[1]

Huckabee served as chairman of the Southern Governors' Association from 1999 to 2000. He also served as chairman of the National Governors Association. His most recently held political office was as the governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007.[2]
