An effort in Glendale, Arizona, to recall Councilman Gary Sherwood from his position was launched in August 2014.[1] The recall effort was approved at the ballot on November 3, 2015.
Not enough verified signatures were turned in to move the recall petition forward in 2014.[2] The recall effort was restarted on February 23, 2015.[3] A recall election took place on November 3, 2015.[4]

Recall supporters[edit]
Sherwood was targeted for recall for allegedly voting contrary to his election platform.[1] The campaign group Ray Malnar for a Better Glendale reported no contributions or expenditures as of October 19, 2015. Arizona Free Enterprise Club, a group advocating for free market policies, spent $13,655.22 on mailers supporting Malnar in late September 2015.[5]
Recall opponents[edit]
Friends of Gary Sherwood reportedly received $11,000 in August and September 2015 from Arizona Pipe Trades 469 ($10,000), United West Valley Firefighters PAC ($500) and Employees for Better Government PAC ($500).[5]

Petitioners needed to collect 2,752 signatures by December 19, 2014, to get the recall on the ballot. Supporters turned in more than 6,000 signatures by the filing deadline.[1] The city clerk had 10 days to review and verify the signatures. The signatures were deemed insufficient to move the recall forward.[2]
For the second recall attempt, petitioners needed to collect 2,752 signatures by June 20, 2015.[3] Petitioners turned in 4,055 signatures on April 30, nearly seven weeks early.[6] 2,999 signatures were verified, allowing the recall to move forward.[7]
